What the map does

One map, four ways to read it.

Not just the price itself, but your own budget, the character of an area, and how a rail line runs. Switch the map mode and the same map answers a different question.

01 · Rent / buy

Price down to the neighbourhood

Not a city average, but rent and purchase price shaded neighbourhood by neighbourhood. Switch layout, price mode, and resolution, and you can tell the expensive corner of a ward from the cheap one.

Tokyo neighbourhoods coloured green, yellow, and red by affordability for a 150,000 yen budget

1LDK on a ¥150k budget. Green is within budget, red is over.

02 · Affordability

Recolour the city for your budget

Set a layout and a rent ceiling, and the map repaints for those numbers. Green, yellow, and red show within budget, tight, or over, so you can see at a glance where to look.

03 · Rent along a line

Compare a line, station by station

Pick a rail line and read the median rent at each station in order. You can see where the price dips, and how far the whole line sits above the city median (its line premium).

Coverage

Same map, city after city.

More than 20 cities across Greater Tokyo and the Kansai area run on the same metrics and the same colours. The city changes, but the way you read the map does not.

  • Greater Tokyo: the 23 wards, Tama, Yokohama, Kawasaki, Saitama, Chiba, and more.
  • Kansai: Osaka, Nara, and surrounding cities, by neighbourhood.
  • Growing: new cities are being added over time.
